It was a great three weeks of commemorating the Nativity of Christ. So much work and effort went into making the season one to remember here at our parish. With decent weather, so many came to our Churches for Mass, to attend our wonderful concert or to pray before the Lord, our Lady or to light a candle before one of their favorite saints.
-So many visitors from all over joined us during Christmastide. Many did not hesitate to comment on how beautiful our liturgies are and how they wish they could experience the same back home. Also mentioned was how beautifully decorated and clean both church’s are.
-Speaking of “beautiful,” I lost count of those who took pictures of the sanctuary at O.L.V. from Christmas right up to the Solemnity of the Baptism of Lord. People were thrilled with all the poinsettias and the new “real” candles in front of our new statues of the Sacred Heart of Jesus & Our Lady of Fatima.
- People who visit us this time of year from afar noticed the new glass doors and were thrilled that the Church looks “open” now rather then closed. Decorating was a group effort this year at OLV so thanks to Janel Rodriguez (our Office Manager), Patricia Molinari (our secretary), Frs. Kofi, Sovis, Teodoro, and Carlos our Sexton. Thanks to Sexton Marcial Sandoval for a fine job in decorating the church at Saint Andrew’s as well as Edith Jeanty & Nancy Gilbertson who are our capable & dedicated staff there.
-Thanks to Don Barnum and our Canoni Choir who did such a great job with our first-ever Christmas Concert that was attended by over 100 people. They also did a splendid job with our Vigil Mass on Christmas Eve.Thanks to Mick Tucci and our Schola Cantorum Choir who did a fine job at our Mass at Night on Christmas Eve as well as at the two Masses on Christmas Day. Both choral directors and choirs deserve kudos for all the fine music & sacred song at most Masses from the First Sunday of Advent to the Epiphany of the Lord. Thank you to Mary Ellen Wright who serves us well as organist at our weekday midday Mass at OLV. Thank you to Cynthia Weinrich who served as organist & cantor at Saint Andrews during the Christmas Season.
-Thanks to our parochial vicars, Frs., Cortezano, Kofi, & Sovis, for all their assistance and dedication to our parish as well as Msgr. Oscar Aquino & Fr. Andrew Bielak who assist us with Masses at both Churches when they are able.
-Finally, thanks to all of you for your being a part of the life of Our Lady of Victory & Saint Andrew, including our fine Lectors, Servers & Ushers. Your presence, prayers & generosity go into making our parish the important and fine one that it is in serving not only the local community but the thousands who travel from afar to work in the area.
God bless & keep you,
